Testnet Base: a complete guide

Testnet Base: a complete guide. How to pass testnet Base: a complete guide. Activities in the Base test network.

Base is a secure and inexpensive L2 for Ethereum. It was created by CoinBase, and this exchange is famous for its ability to develop projects that bring in a lot of money.

Followed on Twitter: CoinBase, Justin Sum, Brian Armstrong, Galxe, Rarible, Optimism, Gemini, Google Cloud, TrustPad, The Graph + a huge number of guys from A16Z, Electric Capital, PolyChain, Multicoin Capital, IDEO Ventures and many other funds. We are likely to see very large funding rounds in the near future.

They often write that there will be no token, but Arbitrum wrote the same, so you shouldn’t fully believe it. Also, if there is no token, there may be some other buns instead. Well, most importantly, you simply warm up your wallets, which you use to pass other testnets.

What need to do?

  1. How to connect base testnet, get tokens and token bridge
  2. Perform tasks in Layer 3
  3. Test Wisp
  4. Test Neptune
  5. Test Cloudbase
  6. Test trading and staking on CAP
  7. Contract deployment, creation of nft and mint for this nft
  8. Domain mint
  9. Join the guild and discord
  10. Mint NFT(for real ETH)
  11. Overall testnet rating from Base

Token bridge

2. Perform tasks in Layer 3

Go to the Layer3 site and complete simple tasks. The NFT mint task is optional, but I personally did it.

Tasks in Layer3

3. Test Wisp

Testing the Wisp project. You can read about the project and a detailed guide in the Wisp testnet article. In short, you need:

  1. Get Base ETH test tokens
  2. Go to the Wisp website and connect the wallet
  3. Make several token transfers to another network and back.
Wisp protocol

4. Test Neptune

Testing the Neptune project. You can read about the project and a detailed guide in the Neptune testnet article. In short, you need:

  1. Get Base ETH, USDC, NPM test tokens here – neptunemutual.
  2. Go to Neptune and connect the wallet
  3. Stake in all sections and collect rewards in a short time after stake.
Token staking

5. Test CloudBase

Testing the CloudBase project. You can read about the project and a detailed guide in the CloudBase testnet article. In short, you need:

  1. Get Base ETH test tokens
  2. Go to the CloudBase and connect the wallet
  3. Make several swaps with different pairs of tokens. For example: ETH / CLOUD, ETH / USDC, ETH / USDT.
  4. Create liquidity, edit liquidity, and delete liquidity.
  5. Go to their Guild and get as many different roles as possible.

6. Test trading and staking on CAP

CAP – a service for trading cryptocurrency with shoulders. You can also add a liquidity pool in the test ETH base there.

What need to do?

  1. Get Base ETH test tokens
  2. Go to CAP and connect the wallet
  3. In the Trade tab, perform several operations with long/short contracts
  4. Deposit and withdraw test ETH in the Pool tab.
САР

7. Deployment of the contract, creation of the NFT and mint for this NFT

  1. Go to remix (a site for creating contracts).
  2. Create a new document and name it, for example, base.sol
  3. Go to the docs.base documentation site and copy their code
Site with documentation
  1. Insert the code on the remix and press the compile button (3).
Compilation of the contract
  1. Go to the Deploy tab (1) and select the MetaMask provider (2) you must be on the BASE TESTNET network at this time and click on the Deploy button and confirm the transaction in metamask.
Contract deploy
  1. Copy the created contract as shown on the screenshot, or in the hash of the transaction.
Copy of the contract
  1. Go to the quest site, connect the wallet and complete the quest by inserting this contract that we just created. After that, we will mint NFT, which we will receive as a reward for completing the quest.

Another possible option for this quest is to create your own NFT.

For this you need:

  1. Go to ThirdWeb, connect the wallet and click the Deploy now button.
Creating your NFT collection in Base
  1. Next, you need to enter the name, symbol and other data of your collection and click the Deploy now button and confirm the transaction.
Entering collection data
  1. In the created collection, copy the address of the contract and insert the quest from point 7 into that field.

8. Domain mint

Go to the site, enter the desired domain and mint it in the Base test network.

Domain mint is also available on this site.

Overall testnet score from Base:

  • Approximate time to complete: 30-60 minutes.
  • Costs: Test Tokens 0.1-0.2.+ $5-30 on NFT and commissions (depending on gas) (not possible on all accounts).
  • Difficulty: EASY.

My rating: 8/10, Testnet from the Base project developed by Coinbase, takes 30-60 minutes (depending on your level and the network’s busyness). As for the shortcomings, they themselves repeatedly indicated that they would not have a token, but the developers of Arbitrum said the same and then they still made it. In my opinion it is worth going through at least the free part of it without NFT mint. However, if you meet a low commission and believe in the project, you can do these tasks as well.
